Anthem College Online Announces Medical Office Assistant Diploma

Learn Medical Office Administration online with Anthem College Online

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) August 02, 2011

Anthem College Online is now offering a Diploma in Medical Office Administration that trains students to provide administrative services in medical office settings.

“There is a growing demand for medical assistants who focus on administrative work,” says Darcy Richardson, Division President for Anthem College Online. “Our program trains administrative staff specifically for work in medical environments and to be part of a team that helps clinical offices run efficiently.”

The program teaches students the administrative, technical and communication skills for medical offices. They will learn procedures such as identifying and verifying insurance benefits, managing patient health records, working with insurance plans and admitting patients to hospitals. They will take classes in human anatomy, the healthcare field, communications and computer skills.

Students will be able to practice their technical skills in a simulated online medical office using Elsevier’s Virtual Medical Office software.

Program graduates will be able to compete for entry-level positions in medical offices, including administrative medical assistant, patient account representative, insurance billing representative, medical records clerk and patient financial services representative. “There is a lot of interest in working in medical settings,” Richardson says, “but not everyone wants to train in clinical services. This program is for people who are interested in providing administrative services that support clinical offices.”

Anthem College Online classes are taught by skilled professionals with real-world experience using an interactive Web-based platform. Students are engaged from the start and remain throughout the course through online discussion forums and message boards. Attending an online school allows them more flexibility to maintain their current work and/or family demands, while pursuing their educational and career goals.

Anthem College Online embraces other technologies for extracurricular activities, including a Second Life community where students can meet in a virtual college.
